Opera House Empty Now

The Opera House of Albemarle was built in 1907 by FE Starnes, Doc Frank Parker, and JC Parker.  The structure is the one in which Starnes Jewelry Store is now on the first floor.  It was a magnificent building and many remarkable shows from New York and other cities made their appearances there in the glamorous days of live entertainment and one night stands.

Those with vivid imaginations say that the ghosts of past performers walk the once spacious stage and songs of past musical comedies are heard very, very faintly by those who remember marveling at the wonders behind the exquisite satin curtains of yesteryear.
